During 2013 we had consultations with Pavlou Phitides in conjunction with Cape Talk and Nedbank to improve small businesses. We were interviewed on radio and as a result of the exposure during these interviews, together with the advice Pavlou gave us, we started PLANNING TO ACCELERATE!! Our OPERATIONS & PROJECTS MANAGER, GRAEME VAN DER BERG run and manage our workshop and manufacturing staff. The appointment of Jacqui Swiegelaar as Office Administrator, is also a great asset to the company. Jacqui has a degree in Human Resources and comes with great expertise. Many of our clients prefer to install their own ladders, and our DIY ladders have been supplied and installed internationally throughout AFRICA, DRC, CÔTE D’OR, BOTSWANA, KENYA ETC.   The Aluminium ladders are also very popular in SEYCHELLES, MAURITIUS and just recently, AUSTRALIA. Our client in Australia saw the quality of our attic ladder when visiting South Africa, and commented that it was way superior to anything else he has seen in his country.

LOFT CONVERSIONS:

Due to the current global economic climate, people have realised that the entry and exit levels of acquiring and disposing of property is extremely high.  Therefore, they hold on to their existing property and rather improve such, than moving on.

This fact has created an opportunity for us to educate our clients to utilise their dormant, expensive attic area. They can expand their habitable space by converting this space into bedrooms, studies, storage space or whatever their needs are.

This does not only happen in the domestic market, but also in the hospitality industry.  We have recently converted the one wing of a well known 5-STAR HOTEL IN CAMPS BAY into offices for their staff.

The project required us to do all the work very quietly, as the bedrooms below the loft floor were occupied by guests. Due to this fact, we also had to give special attention to the sound proofing of the floor area. The roof covering consisted of Chromadek, which required very good insulation for temperature control. The loft area were also vacuumed and cleaned out from  all the dust collecting there over the years. The roof area required skylights or roof windows to provide natural light in the loft area. A lovely wooden staircase provides access to the extra room in the roof. Sliding doors and shelving and storage space were created at the one end of the roof store.

Another loft conversion were completed a while ago in Paarl, where we converted the roof space into a large boardroom .

The large roof windows provides light in this lovely room.  The loft area is accessed by a wooden staircase.

MEZZANINE FLOORS:

The latest craze in the designer world is mezzanine floors.  People have realised they can create space in their home should the ceiling be high enough, or if they have double volume spaces.

The mezzanine floor provides a lovely warm feeling, can be accessed by handmade wooden staircases, or a more affordable option is our aluminium loft ladder.

The mezzanine floor can be erected in the home or garage, and can be used for storage, or turned into a study, bedroom, office or playroom. It will be designed by our resident architect to comply with all the safety and building regulations, and finished off with a wooden balustrade. The flooring can be either tongued and grooved in pine, or floorboards according your choice.

Interior designers are also requesting mini mezzanine floors for children’s rooms, which are designed to carry a mattress at the top, accessed by wooden stairs, and below a desk, cupboard or open space creates more room to play in the bedroom.  For little girls, the “box” can also take the form of a dolls house – designed according to your needs.
